first breath
the Alphabet
Porte Rosse · Rome
7–12 July 2026
At Porte Rosse in Rome, the Alphabet: first breath unfolds as a language born from the body.
Twenty-six photographic letters, discovered in the folds, tensions and movements of Pauline Faieff’s own body, each meet a female name and a poetic phrase. The body becomes the one that writes.
Printed on linen, the letters invite visitors to lift them and uncover the poems beneath. Reading becomes a gesture, shaped by each person’s memories and experience.
With Love Letters, visitors write themselves a letter of love, encouragement or gratitude, leave it in an envelope, and take away the words of a stranger. From the body to the poem, from one person to another, language becomes an act of connection.
